Survey about Fennoscandian land use governance (maankäyttökysely)

Global environmental change, growing interest in the Arctic natural resources and sustainability transitions are affecting the ecosystems and human communities of northern Fennoscandia (northern Finland, Sweden and Norway) in unprecedented ways. Diverse views have emerged on the planned and implemented land use changes in the region. However, while the impacts of the land use change and adaptation to the changes take place at local and regional scales, the management of the land use takes place in an increasingly complex governance setting. The governance setting for Fennoscandian land use includes a diversity of actors ranging from local groups to international organisations. The groups and organisations interact across scales and have varying levels of influence on decision-making.

Our research strives to disentangle the complexity of Fennoscandian land use governance with the help of a survey on social interactions among groups and organisations involved in the land use questions. We have opened the survey for Finnish land use change and invited a number of key actors in the region to participate in it. The survey includes questions about forestry, agriculture, reindeer herding, wind power, mining, tourism and nature conservation. The survey and the research investigates the governance setting at group/organisation-level, not at the level of individual people. The survey has been sent to several key actors in the region, but anyone involved in land use questions in northern Finland is warmly welcome to participate in the research, such as local residents, industry representatives, and scientific experts. Every answer is important, and your individual responses will remain confidential.

KYSELY POHJOIS-SUOMEN JA POHJOISEN FENNOSKANDIAN MAANKÄYTÖSTÄ JA SIIHEN LIITTYVÄSTÄ SOSIAALISESTA VAIKUTTAMISESTA

Ympäristön muutos, kasvava luonnonvarojen kysyntä ja vihreä siirtymä voivat muuttaa maankäyttöä pohjois-Suomessa merkittävästi. Vaikka maankäytön muutokset ja niihin sopeutuminen tapahtuvat paikallisella ja alueellisella tasolla, maankäytön hallintaan ja päätöksentekoon osallistuu laaja kirjo erilaisia toimijoita. Olemme avanneet kyselyn selvittääksemme maankäytön hallinnan monimutkaisuutta aina paikallisryhmien tasoilta EU-toimijoiden tasolle asti. Maankäyttömuodoista kysely koskee metsätaloutta, maataloutta, tuulivoimaa, kaivosalaa, poronhoitoa, luonnonsuojelua ja matkailua. Kysely on tarkoitus toistaa Ruotsissa ja Norjassa.

Kysely on lähetetty useille maankäyttöön liittyville toimijaryhmille, mutta se on avoin kaikille paikallisille ihmisille ja yhteisöille, maankäytön ammattilaisille ja asiantuntijoille.
