Optimal choice of fishing grounds

Fisheries regulations allow management based on cooperative decisions instead of a regular ‘race-to-fish’ situation. However, there are downsides of equal rights regulations: asymmetries between countries can translate into advantages in resource extraction that cannot be utilized. These advantages include development and restructuring of the fleets and spatial closeness to the most productive fishing grounds. Our technical report investigates these question for the Baltic Sea demersal trawlers and seiners.
